Learn more about our museum programs

This workshop focuses on exploring the creative process through songwriting. Attendees will work with and learn from the prolific songwriter Dan Navarro to develop new techniques and enhance existing ones. Dan will lead you through an exploration of the essence of verbal and musical expression, the dynamic of connected performance and composition and the deceptive allure of success and its various disguises.

Through collaboration exercises, critiques (if you wish), monologue and dialogue, you will run through your creative paces with positivity and support, to ideally take home concepts that will facilitate creativity — on whatever level you choose. All levels of songwriters welcome. If you have an instrument your want to use, please bring it, and bring your songs, in whatever stages they are. CD’s MP’s welcome.

ABOUT DAN NAVARRO_________
For over thirty years, Dan Navarro has written, sung, played and acted his way through a rich and varied career...

Dan started out as a songwriter, most often with Eric Lowen, for artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated "We Belong"), The Bangles, Jackson Browne, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick, The Triplets, Dutch star Marco Borsato, and Austin outlaw legend Rusty Weir.

In the 1990s and 2000s, he and Eric recorded and toured as the acclaimed acoustic duo Lowen & Navarro until Eric's retirement in 2009.

He has a parallel career as a voice actor and singer, in films like Pirates of the Caribbean 5, The Book Of Life, Rio (on the Oscar nominated "Real In Rio"), Happy Feet, The Lorax, Ice Age (2 & 3); TV series Turbo Fast, Prison Break, Family Guy and American Dad; records with Neil Young, Andrea Bocelli, Luis Miguel, Jose Feliciano, Janiva Magness, and Jon Anderson of Yes; hit video games Fallout 4 and Uncharted 4, and hundreds of TV ads for Subaru, Shakey's, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Honda, Nationwide and more.

He has appeared in Washington on artists' rights and intellectual property issues, including testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Copyright Royalty Board. Dan also serves on the boards of SAG-AFTRA and The Levitt Pavilion Pasadena.

The O Museum in the Mansion

Exploration and Discovery

Dedicated to serving cultural, scientific, and educational growth through the creative process, we foster inner strength and peace through diversity, to provide a unique forum that inspires guests to:

•    Realize your vision
•    Experience the creative process
•    Inspire imagination
•    Empower authenticity
•    Dare to be different

The O Street Museum Foundation promotes and embraces life, from every culture, resulting in a wide-ranging collection of paintings, photographs, sculpture, books, artifacts, and music, from all over the globe.

The only museum of its kind, the O Street Museum is dedicated to exploring the creative process. The collection rotates and changes daily. From the art, to the music, to the surroundings, no visit is ever the same.

Here you will find artist's letters, sports & entertainment memorabilia, written manuscripts, rare photos, art, pop-culture, signed guitars (we have more than 60), one of the largest "raw and exposed" music collections and much more — our galleries are not limited to one genre.

O Street Museum offers an immersive, tactile experience making it one of DC's most unique attractions. Guests will leaf through manuscripts, touch sculpture, hear rare studio cuts, and tour through an array of diverse exhibits, achitectual styles, secret doors, and our legendary themed rooms — like the Log Cabin, the John Lennon Suite, the Safari room, and Mrs. Rosa Parks room (we were her home-away-from-home for nearly 10 years). We are a historic site on The African American Heritage Trail and designated as a 20th Century Civil Rights site by Cultural Tourism DC.

As a non-profit we offer a wide range of programs including artist-in-residence, heroes, concerts, jammin', author and artist talks, raw & exposed music, songwriter's workshops, and kids programs.

No matter where you look you will miss something. But it's not what you miss, rather what you're willing to see. Magic and miracles exist. Not just in the mind.

It's the simple things, small steps, the goals we choose, the way of life we want to breathe. How easily everything changes when you choose to look at the same thing from a different angle.
